  A very text-based church. Seminary and Awana programs are a major influence. Church consists of mainly large families that homeschool, a very protective and somewhat closed environment. You won't hear very much on how the Bible applies to current issues or how to deal with life's difficulties, just straight reading and teaching of the Word. Preaches grace, but the pastor recently refused to marry a couple who were both members (the man had been previously married).

  Wonderful church. Fully committed to biblical teaching for all ages, and the evidence of genuine belief is obvious when the church gathers.

  During the morning service, the singing feels like a big show for the guy up on stage like it's his concert. Any attempt at a joke during the sermon makes me cringe. The youth pastor who they occasionaly parade around the stage for some reason can't keep a good speaking tempo throughout his speech, and often times stops what he's doing to cry. The sermons themselves feel like cookie cutter sermons. I could have attended a church in Ohio and heard the same thing.

  So thankful the Lord guided me to this wonderful family of God. I contacted John MacArthur's website to seek guidance on joining a local assembly that preached the Gospel. They gave me some names of local graduates of their seminary, I in turn contacted several of the names. A few responded and recommended 2 churches more than once. One was Carrollton Baptist (37 mi from me) and the other was Colonial Baptist (6 mi). This church has been a joy in my life for over 5 years. It may seem to some to be a large gathering, but the small groups that meet up for Bible study or Sunday school and more are very close and intimate. Our Pastor Daniel Davey is one of four sons of Paster Keith & Yvonne Davey, who started this assembly. This couple started Missions to Military in the 70's, about the same time Pastor Daniel's Uncle, Lowell Davey started the Bible Broadcasting Network (FM 99.7) So you can imagine the joy of worshipping with such servants of God.
